Local roots, lasting relationships

Turboweb started back in the mid-2000s with a pretty simple idea: websites shouldn’t be hard. Businesses should be able to manage their content without needing to call a developer every time they want to update a phone number. So, we built a platform—and a company—focused on making that process easier, friendlier, and more human.

We’ve always done things a little differently. No pushy sales talk, no “one size fits all,” and no overseas call centres. Just a team of good people, right here in Ōtepoti Dunedin, who genuinely care about helping other businesses grow and the planet we live on.

Our Story

Turboweb was founded by Paul Southworth, who’s still here today keeping things steady and dreaming big. He built his first website in 1999, and when he saw how tricky the web could be for non-techy people, he figured there had to be a better way. Turns out, there was.

Over the years, our team has grown and shrunk (during the unprecedented times) and grown again, the platform has evolved, and the projects have gotten bigger—but our approach hasn’t changed. We still pick up the phone. We still take the time to understand your business. And we still believe in doing good work with good people.

What We Value

We believe in being useful, kind, and straightforward. We believe in partnerships, not transactions. And we believe in local—local businesses, local support, and local data (yep, everything we host is backed up right here in Aotearoa).

We work with businesses and organisations of all shapes and sizes—from one-person startups to large community groups and national brands. Some of our clients have been with us for the whole ride.

More Than Just Websites

We’re not just here to build websites. We also offer custom development, integrations, and digital tools to help you run your business smarter. If there’s a process slowing you down or a system that just doesn’t fit, we’ll help you fix it—or build something better.

And We’re Still Smiling

What’s kept us going all these years? The people, the jokes, the support. The businesses doing cool things in their communities. The feeling of building something that actually makes life a bit easier. And the odd team lunch that turns into a big conversation about what we’re going to try next.

That’s the Turboweb story so far- but we also have a 100 year vision, check it out.
